AAT Apprentice Accounting Technician

Location: Hedon, East Yorkshire
Basis: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week, Permanent

We are looking for a full-time AAT Apprentice Accounting Technician to join our friendly, professional team. The role is based in our Hedon office on a permanent basis.

The successful applicant will work with a fantastic team dedicated to providing excellent services to our clients. You will gain hands-on experience helping to prepare clients' year-end accounts and tax returns, while also supporting our bookkeeping department. Most of your time will be spent learning on the job, complemented by dedicated time away from the office for specialist training to achieve your professional AAT qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support managers with a diverse range of client services.
  • Assist with manual and digital bookkeeping and VAT services.
  • Reconcile financial data and bank statements.
  • Prepare and analyse accounts for a variety of clients.
  • Assist with Corporation Tax computations and Self-Assessment tax returns.
  • Produce accurate financial data and investigate queries.
  • Resolve or escalate transactional errors within your remit.
  • Provide ad-hoc office administration and team support when needed.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and clients.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, with a willingness to learn accounting software. Comfortable using Microsoft Excel.
  • A diligent, positive, and enthusiastic approach to work and career development.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • A strong willingness to learn, study, and interact effectively with others.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance workplace responsibilities with independent study.
